What a ride with the 2024 Minnesota Vikings season! The season started with low expectations having drafted a rookie quarterback in JJ McCarthy and signing free agent seasoned veteran Sam Darnold. It was expected to be a stepping stone season and expectations dropped even lower when we learned McCarthy would miss the entire season after an injury in the preseason. Who could have imagined that the Vikings would go on to win 14 games and have a shot at the NFC #1 overall playoff seed heading into the final week of the regular season while Sam Darnold played an MVP-caliber season?!
Despite an early playoff loss, the 2024 Vikings season was one to remember with many spectacular moments. I was very grateful for the opportunity to travel to the Vikings playoff game in Phoenix against the Los Angeles Rams (which was moved from LA due to destructive wildfires). There is nothing else quite like a playoff atmosphere for a photographer and being on the road for one is always a unique experience. From the joyful turnover celebrations in the end zone by the defense, to the shocking play of Sam Darnold and the rest of the offense, the 2024 Vikings were a special team and I’m very proud of the photos I was able to make over the season. I don’t know if there is another season where I felt so proud of the photos I was able to make, so I hope you enjoy looking through them.
