September is one of my favorite times of the year for photography because in the late afternoon the light is almost magical. It’s warm and soft and can make virtually anything look beautiful. On Sunday, September 28th the Minnesota Vikings played a very rare 3PM game, which was perfect timing for catching that great September light. If this had occurred last season while the Vikings were playing indoors at the Metrodome this wouldn’t have been much of a big deal at all, but that was not the case this season. This season the Vikings are playing outdoors at TCF Bank Stadium on the University of Minnesota campus while their new stadium is under construction. What made the game even better is that the Vikings won the game and scored often making for a lot of fun, celebratory photos in that fantastic light. What resulted was one of my favorite Vikings games I’ve photographed yet. Like last season, I am once again one of the gameday team photographers for the Vikings. So I will be on the sidelines photographing every home game of the season. I hope you enjoy the following photos as much as I do.
